Privacy Policy for FaceTap

FaceTap "we" operates the FaceTap mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

a) Account Information

  • Username
  • Email address
  • Profile information (bio, social links, phone number if provided)

b) Biometric Information

When you choose to register your face, we generate a facial embedding (a mathematical representation of facial features). We do NOT store raw photos for recognition purposes. The facial embedding is used only for matching within the FaceTap platform.

c) Camera Access

FaceTap requires camera access to scan and detect faces. Camera data is processed in real-time and is not stored unless you explicitly register your face.

d) Usage Data

  • App usage statistics
  • Scan counts
  • Connection requests

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To enable face-based profile matching
  • To process contact requests between users
  • To improve app functionality and security
  • To enforce scan limits and subscription features

3. Face Recognition & Consent

Face registration is optional. By registering your face, you explicitly consent to the creation and storage of your facial embedding for matching purposes. You may delete your facial data at any time within the app.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Your profile information is only visible to other users according to your privacy settings. Contact details are only shared after your approval.

5. Data Storage & Security

Data is securely stored using encrypted cloud infrastructure. We implement reasonable safeguards to protect biometric and personal information.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time, which will permanently remove your data including facial embeddings.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under data protection laws including access, correction, or deletion of your data.

8. Children’s Privacy

FaceTap is not intended for users under 18 years of age.

9. Third-Party Services

We use third-party cloud services to store and process data securely. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by confidentiality agreements.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of changes.
